An introduction to the FPA/ABI Technical Guidance note for residential sprinkler systems designed to BS9251

Listen again as Dr Jim Glockling discusses the creation of this TGN for Residential sprinkler systems which was instigated following the Grenfell tragedy to support the inevitable proliferation of these systems in tall buildings. It seeks to clarify the roles and responsibilities of all parties in accordance with the model laid out by Dame Judith Hackitt, and at the same time address some of the known identified issues in terms of responsibilities, competency, system specification, product selection and performance.

Occupant Toxicity Threat from Rain-Screen Cladding Systems

Listen agiain to Dr James Glockling, Technical Director of the Fire Protection Association, reporting the results of the post-Grenfell RISCAuthority project looking at the potential for occupant exposure to toxic emissions sourced from building fabric materials. This work, conducted in association with UCLAN, suggests that in combination, the lack of protection afforded to occupants from fire ingress by building regulations, and toxicity playing no role in material suitability assessment, occupants may be inadequately protected from harm.

These Statistics help member insurers understand current & emerging trends in fire losses across the industry. All data uploaded by Loss Adjusters is strictly anonymous and can be filtered according to your requirements. 

After recent member feedback, the Large Loss Tool will be undergoing major reconfiguration in 2019. This webinar rovides an opporunity to understand the ool currently, and shape its future development. There will be a follow-up webinar later in the year to showcase these developments.
