RC26: Recommendations for thermal fluid heating systems

  • 12 Apr 2018

These recommendations apply to the design, installation and operation of thermal fluid heating systems in relation to both liquid phase and vapour phase applications, and are intended to provide background information for insurers, property owners, specifiers and fire safety managers regarding the fire hazards that these installations may introduce into the workplace and the measures that should be taken to mitigate these.

Thermal fluid transfer systems are not just simple services but can be complex process plants in their own right. These recommendations outline the fire hazards associated with this type of plant and the actions that should be taken to mitigate the risks. In all cases the plant should be operated and maintained only by trained personnel.
