Product recall horizon scanning – assistance to BEIS

A proposed study to investigate the benefits of putting in place reporting structures on behalf of insurers that may inform on emerging ‘white-goods’ fire risks.

Following Grenfell, government has been tasked with improving horizon scanning for potential product recall of goods in the home that may cause fire. Following initial meetings, it is clear that insurers (and their contracted LA and forensic services) hold most of the data needed to achieve this.

The key deliverables of this project include:

  • Establishment of requirement
  • Establishment of insurer support
  • Establishment of process
